Sending a big thank you to Camp Lebanon for welcoming our family to a fun-filled weekend at Camp!

Has your family ever tried out Summer Camp together?  If you’ve been following along with my Camp Lebanon Series, you can see that our family had a fantastic time attending a camp in Minnesota.  This camp welcomes campers from all over the state of Minnesota as well as other states and is known as “home of the funnest fun”.  After attending this past Memorial Weekend, my entire family is in full agreement that Camp Lebanon truly does offer it all.

Being a Christian, Bible focused camp, daily Chapel is always on the schedule.  {Don’t forget that all denominations are welcome to attend camp!}  This is something that I remember looking forward to as a child and this past weekend reminded me why.  Chapel is full of energy, love, and learning.  Jim Hinson, the guest speaker from Palisade Baptist in Silver Bay, shared with us each day.  Since the Bible is full of parables as that was the way that Jesus shared his teachings most often, Jim started by explaining what the word parable means.  The Greek translation of para means to come along side and ble (ball) means to throw.  This means that Jesus’ parables carried a story along side a truth.  While many of the parables in the Bible may be confusing to us, they made perfect sense to those Jesus was teaching as he used common, every day examples for those times.  (So the parables that Jesus would have used in today’s world would have looked quite a bit different as the world has changed drastically from 2000 years ago.)  I loved the way Jim walked us through this as it really made me look at the parables in the Bible in a whole new light.

Then I just wanted to touch base on a few more highlights from the weekend as I wrap up my Camp Lebanon Series.  One tradition that’s been carried on over the years is the Camp Lebanon Polar Dip.  Each morning at 7:45, campers can jump in the lake, (must get wet head to toe), to complete this challenge.  If they participate every day of their camp session, they are rewarded with a prize at the closing Chapel Rally.  Our family only had two brave souls but there was a different family this past weekend where everyone, including mom and the toddler, completed this challenge!

Every morning and every evening, campers gather for flag raising and lowering.  Treating our country, flag, and God with respect is a big focus during this time and we were honored to be chosen to help with flag lowering Sunday evening.  On Memorial Day, Camp Lebanon honored all service members, past and present, and they were our color guard for that raising.

Most camp events and happenings are noted by a bell ringing seven times.  Bobber Bill selects campers that are nearby to have the privilege of sounding the bell throughout the day and several of our kids got that opportunity throughout the weekend.

Camp Lebanon also celebrated his 70th Anniversary Celebration this Memorial Day with a Historic North 40 Rally, Camp Photo, Picnic, Legends Field Dedication & Inaugural Game, and fun activities.  It was amazing to hear from some of the people behind this camp and those who have dedicated many years to its success and the sharing of God’s Word.

Our Family Camp experience at Camp Lebanon was absolutely amazing.  The staff was always helpful and kind, the activities offered kept us plenty busy, and the environment was safe and welcoming.  It was an amazing time that was spent together, building on our Faith, and enjoying the company of others.  We are excited to send our older kids back to kids camp later this summer and I know we will also be back for another family camp adventure in the future too!

This truly looks like one of the best camps I have seen in a long time. I have followed your other posts and am really impressed. It isnt close by us, but if it was, I would jump on it. I like how it is faith based. I also like how affordable it looks and how it is centered around activities and family time.
