I am a Nutrisystem nation blogger. I am provided with a Nutrisytem meal plan in return for sharing regular updates.
Something I appreciate about Nutrisystem is how their menu options change. Every few months they add a handful of new entrees. They occasionally take items away too, but we’ve been lucky that none of Ryan’s favorites have ever went away. When new entrees are added, Ryan typically orders one of each just to try them. In the past he’s been surprised at which entrees he has liked vs not so trying everything once seems to be the way to go.
Recently Nutrisystem added Strawberry Cheesecake Crepes to their menu, so he ordered one. We’ve never had crepes of any kind before. They are a frozen entree that comes carefully wrapped and simply gets microwaved to heat.
Ryan is sensitive to the texture of foods. Once the crepe was microwaved, it was very mushy and slightly moist. The outside is essentially a neatly folded wrap (or thin tortilla) so having it moiste and very soft seemed a bit unpleasant. Like with many microwave entrees, Ryan opted to microwave it to warm it, and then fry it to dry it out. He likes most foods very dry, even things like chicken and turkey that most people prefer moist.
Anyway, the frying took quite a while because there was a lot of moisture left on the product. He was able to get the outside firm, but the wrap is folded over multiple times and the inside stayed quite mushy. He liked the flavor of the entree but was put off by how mushy the product stayed. I looked at the reviews of the entree on Nutrisystem.com and someone mentioned using an air fryer to crisp the product up. I wish we had an air fryer as that seems like a great option for those who are texture sensitive.

Thanks for the honest info! I’ve never tried these NutriSystem meals but they seem interesting and must work!

I’ve never had a microwaved crepe before. The regular ones are sort of moist like a thin pancake.

I have definitely never had a microwaved crepe before, but I can see why the texture would be unpleasant. I am not a fan of mushy either. The flavor does seem a little strange too, although I’m sure there a few that like it. I wish I had an air fryer too, I love fried foods but traditional frying is so unhealthy and messy!

I like the idea but I am like Ryan, I don’t like it mushy.I wonder if it thawed overnight and pan fried only would that work. Just wondering if that would help.

I really like a good crepe but I think the mushiness would be unpleasant. I actually thought of it as a dessert not so much a breakfast option.
What a bummer! This sounds like a great breakfast. What about taking the crepe out the night before and then baking it the next morning?
