If you haven’t heard of Moon Dough, you probably haven’t spent much time around kids. Moon dough is really popular with kids in a variety of age groups. I completely see why kids like it – it’s a really open ended toy that lets them make whatever they can imagine in their mind. Plus, the various kits allow them to customize their play into themes and ideas even easier. The set I was sent to review is called ocean pals, and it includes tools that allow your kids to make an octupus, a turtle, etc. Moon Dough is recomended for kids ages 3+, so I thought my 4 year old niece would like to check out the moon dough. She had heard of moon dough before but hadn’t played with it, and was a little unsure of the texture of the dough at first. However, it didn’t take her long to realize it was alright and to create a family of octopuses. The dough held her attention for a really long time and after a while I noticed that her hands were turning colors, so we went to wash them and it came right off. Clean up is easy, as you can take a big ball of moon dough to “dab up” the fallen bits. However, this does usually cause the colors to mix together and end up being a greyish but that is to be expected with a toy like this. Overall my niece really enjoyed the set and has definitely gotten a lot of play time out of it so far, and I think she’ll continue to do so for quite some time.
