I’ve worn eyeglasses since age 11, so I thought that I was probably as knowledgeable about vision care needs as the next person. However, I learned a few things while checking out the Zeiss educational tools website. For example, I had no idea that ALL children should get an eye exam at age 6 months, 3 years and again right before starting school. Most people I know don’t take their kids to an eye doctor at all unless they suspect some vision problems or their school age child has a vision test that suggests they need further testing. The zeiss website also has a list of questions that they suggest asking your eye doctor. Such as, what type of lenses are best for my personal needs, based on the activities that you do while wearing eyeglasses. They also suggest asking your doctor about the tests and procedures that they do in addition to finding your prescription. Do they check for glaucoma and other eye problems? They also have information for adults over age 40. Around age 40, many adults start to develop Presbyopia which causes problems focusing on objects that are nearby, which can cause people to hold papers or books out further from their face when reading.
