Part of living the coupon lifestyle means comparing prices at different stores, and sometimes it means not using coupons at all. For example, Aldi often has seasonal produce at prices cheaper than any other store in my area, so even though I can’t use coupons at Aldi, it still makes sense to go there for certain items that are cheaper than I could get them at other stores even WITH coupons. Aldi doesn’t just have great prices on produce though, they also have seasonal deals that can save you lots of money. From may through August, they have a list of summer deals that are great for camping, bbq’s and more.

We recently were sent a smores kit from Aldi to try out. It included Benton’s graham crackers ($1.49), Bakers corners regular marshmallows ($.99), Choceur Milk Chocolate Bars ($1.49). In total that is about $4. Plus, the a special 4th of July Baker’s corner patriotic sprinkler jar was sent to us ($2.99) but this is of course a special add on treat.

At my local supermarket, graham crackers are about $3.00 per box, while marshmallows are $1.50-$2.00 and a 1.5 oz chocolate bar is .67 (the choceur milk chocolate bar is 5.29 oz. So in all, about 5.50 and you’re only getting less than 1/3 of the amount of chocolate at that price.

So, saving the money is great but how does the taste hold up? Well, I don’t care for chocolate (or smores) so I let Ryan test out this kit and he gave it two big thumbs up. He said that the marshmallows and graham crackers tasted the same as any other brand he’d tried, and the chocolate was even better than the brand we usually use.

In addition to s’more necessities, Aldi’s is also having summer long sales on brats, lemonade, ice tea, BBQ sauce, ice cream and more.

If you have a bonfire or camping coming up, check aldi’s prices before you spend more than you have to at the other stores!
