National Mobility Equipment Dealer Association or NMEDA is an non profit trade association. Their goal is to help people with physical disabilities gain the ability to drive or to be transported in vehicles. They are comprised of mobility equipment dealers, manufacturers, driver rehabilitation specalists as well as other professionals.

Members are required to meet certain safety standards, and the guidelines are updated yearly.

The quality assurance program or QAP is an accreditation program for the mobility equipement industry. In fact, it’s the only program of its nature that exists for the industry.

If you or a loved one is physically disabled and needs mobility equipement, you can visit a NMEDA QAP (Quality Assurance Program) Dealer for mobility solutions and have peace of mind.

Ryan’s dad is only in his 50’s but has to use a wheelchair full time now. Until you have tried to navigate public spaces with a wheel chair, you probably won’t realize how so many places are still not wheelchair frendly. I know that for us, we had no idea until we tried going out various places with Ryan’s dad. It’s sad because for people who live independently and want to get out, they’ll have to avoid certain places if they don’t have a friend or family member to help them navigate the areas where their wheelchair can’t go which greatly limits their freedom. For people like Ryan’s dad who are still young and even for elderly individuals who are disabled, they might be very unhappy if forced to stay home all of the time so allowing them the ability to drive or be driven can greatly improve their qualify of life.

For indivuals who are disabled but need equipment instaled in their vehicle to allow them to drive or for individuals who need lifts in their vehicle so they can ride, the safety of how the equipment is installed is really important to avoid injuries. QAP dealers have high standards to make sure that everything is safe. Be sure to check out the NMEDA website to learn more or to find a QAP certified dealer.
