I like to look for deals on everything that I shop for, but one of the trickiest items to save money on is technology items. I’m lucky to have a significant other who has a lot of knowledge about computers, cameras and other gadgets so he can help me compare one model to another. However, even once I decide upon a specific product it can be pretty time consuming to find out which website will offer me the best price on the item. Some websites help you search based on the lowest product price, but seems how some online websites allow you to use an online coupon and others don’t, the lowest listed website price might not be the lowest overall price after the coupon, taxes or shipping.
Most people don’t like the idea of purchasing technology products second hand through auction sites or yard sales. Because of similar thinking, I was nervous the first time I placed an order from new egg for a refurbished camera. I knew that it had been previously used and then repaired which made me wonder if the risk I was taking was as great as buying a camera from a yard sale or something. It came with a 1 year warranty which made me feel more secure and now that it’s been 4 years I can say it was a great purchase because I got a few years use out of it before I upgraded, and at the time the camera was still in working condition. Since then I have ordered from newegg without worrying at all. Back then, I didn’t realize that I could have used a newegg coupon on my purchase to save even more!
About a year ago Ryan realized that instead of buying a new desktop computer, he could buy all of the internal parts of a computer and assemble them himself, and make a much better computer for less than the cost of a premade one. He went straight to new egg to order the parts and we’re still loving the computer and we are thrilled with how little we spent on a computer with such nice specs.
