Igo power smart wall

Igo is one of my fantastic blogmania sponsors! So although this is just a review post there is a giveaway coming up in about a month.

Igo is a company who makes lots of variations of chargers, including several items that are part of their green line which aim to conserve energy and save you money. I’m sure that many of you have heard that if a device is plugged in, it’s constantly using power even if the item isn’t on. So for example if you leave your cell phone charger plugged in constantly, but only use it for maybe 2 hours every 3 days, it’s still drawing power that entire time, which is of course silly when you’re only using it for maybe six hours a week. It might be easy to remember to unplug your cell phone charger, but what about your tv? Desktop computer? Toaster? Coffee maker? I know that I am not very good at remembering to unplug items that I’m not using, even though I have known for a long time that I should.

Igo power smart wall

Igo makes great products that allow you to keep your items plugged in constantly without having to draw energy constantly. One of their products that does that is the item I am reviewing, their power smart wall. It’s very simple to use, you simply plug it into your outlet and then plug your electronics into the four outlets on the power smart wall. This is a benefit in itself – it gives you four outlets instead of two. There are two outlets on each side of the power smart wall, the two on the right are the ‘green’ outlets. These are the ones that allow items to stay plugged in without drawing energy. These are great for items like a laptop, cell phone charger, digital camera, etc. These outlets will shut off (and blink a light on top of the device to let you know) whenever your phone, laptop, etc is fully charged. If you have a laptop like mine that doesn’t stay charged well, you might be thinking ‘well, what if I start using my laptop and then the battery starts to die?” Well that’s another great thing about this device, it checks to see if your device needs charging again, and will turn back on if it does. Or if you notice that your laptop or device is starting to die and the power smart wall hasn’t checked your devices power level and turned back on, there’s a button on top that you can push to manually turn the outlets back on. Pretty neat!

The two outlets on the left are ‘regular’ outlets that are great for devices that need to be left on constantly, such as a refrigerator, alarm clock, etc. Also, the power smart wall is also a surge protector!

As you can tell there are many benefits to the power smart wall. I love mine and plan to buy more soon so that I can use them throughout my home.
