Caution – this post might be too personal for you. If you are uncomfortable reading about periods and related topics then you should stop reading now.

So I have taken the leap. I bought some cloth pads. All in all I spent about 60 dollars, and made purchases from three etsy shops. I love buying from etsy because I know that they more than likely get the feeling that I get every time I see that I’ve made a sale. It still seemed like a lot of money all at once, which is why I’ve waited so long. But I know that it should be worth it in the long run.

Anyway, have any of you out there used cloth pads? Do you have any tips or advice? What is your ‘system’? I have a soaker canister coming, but I know i’ll end up needing a wet bag for when I’m on the go, though I haven’t bought one yet. I have a diva cup coming from a giveaway I won, but it hasn’t arrived yet. I’m much more worried about the cup than I am about the pads. haha.

I use the Diva Cup and it is amazing! Super easy, no mess, actually shortens the length of your period. Love it!

I won a diva cup for a giveaway over 2 months ago and it hasn’t arrived yet, though I’ve been lead to believe that it’s truly on it’s way now. I hope so! I’m excited to try it but scared because I’ve heard that it seems really large.

Sorry, I would have left this comment on your blog but I can only do that if yo leave it in the form. Hope you see this.

Anyway, thanks for the comment! 🙂

I just wanted to thank you for posting this. I’d never heard of the Diva Cup and had to google it after I read this. It sounds awesome! I can’t wait to buy one the next time I go to Sprouts.

    Oh sure 🙂
I am excited to try it. I have an upcoming review and giveaway for a ‘mama cloth’ sized wet bag. Stay tuned! 🙂

  • I’m anxious to see how you like it. I’ve used a Diva Cup-like thing before. When it fits right, I love it. But I often have a problem keeping it where it belongs. But I am very curious about cloth pads. I was thinking about some pantyliners to start with and see from there.

  • Heather!

Yay you! I actually use cloth pads currently. I also won a Diva Cup in a blog giveaway ages ago (like February?) and am still waiting for it. Like another commenter, I’m told it’s on its way. Hmmm.

Anyway, my ‘system’, as it were, is just that I only use the cloth pads (Glad Rags–also won in a giveaway!) at home. I still use disposable products when I’m out, but I love saving money on monthly products, plus I feel better not using so many disposables which are bleached and processed. I use Instead cups, which I love, but they are still disposable, so I can’t wait to get my Diva Cup in the mail!

Thanks for posting this. I wish more women would discuss it and realize it’s a much more viable option than many would otherwise consider. Hope you have a good experience with it!

@Heather – thanks for the input! I have a wetbag review coming up that is the size of like a cosmetic purse or whatever so it’s great for cloth pads on the go. However, I’ve still thought that I don’t like the idea of not being able to wash it off as soon as I’m done. I knowthat a lot of people don’t, that they just put them directly in a bucket of water or whatever but idk my instincts say it’s gross and they need to be rinsed off before that. So if I were gone all day I think I would probably still opt for disposable just to keep from carrying it all day. But maybe i’ll be surprised, I dunno. We’ll see soon!

Also, I’m working on a review/giveaway with a company for the moon cup/the keeper which is a version of the diva cup so maybe one of you guys can win that 🙂
