I don’t consider myself to be a real picky person in most ways. However, I have a bit of a hang up when it comes to textures. For example, I can’t eat foods like apple sauce, cottage cheese, etc with that weird in-between soft and solid texture. I also can’t stand really oily lotions, etc. So when I head out to the beach and end up caked in gritty sand, I get the heebie jeebies. In an attempt to combat this, I bring at least twice as many towels as we think we will need, so that I can dry off with one and sit on another, and have an extra to sit on when the first one ends up caked in sand. Yet, I always leave the beach covered in sand anyway. I know that many of you are parents with young children, and I’m sure many of you have experienced the ‘sand is in my eye, so I’m going to rub my eye with my sand-covered hand’ situation that seems to inevitably happen with young kids at the beach. So when I discovered that Cgear has mats that allow sand to travel right though them, instead of allowing the sand to sit on top, I knew I had to try these out. Cgear makes both multimats and multirugs. Multimats are larger in size and have a rough feeling to them. These mats are designed to lay underneath of a beach towel or mat. Multirugs are smaller and softer, so they can be layed on directly without feeling scratchy. I received a multimat for review. I was impressed with how large it seems even though it’s the smallest (6 by 6) multimat available. This size is great for many uses. It could easily fit two beach towels, possibly three. It would also be great for laying down on the beach if everyone was sitting up during a picnic, or to lay out around the entrance of a tent, to keep sand and dirt from getting in the tent as much. Or if you have a small tent the sandfree mat could even be layed across the entire bottom of the tent to keep any sand that does enter the tent, on the very bottom of the tent instead of against blankets. The multimats have metal loops in the corners so they can be staked down if needed. I wish we had one of these rugs when we camped on the beach of lake Michigan last fourth of July. Sand was everywhere! These mats would be well worth their cost if you are camping in a sandy campground or on the beach. Do you go camping with an RV? Soon Cgear will be releasing even larger mats that can cover the area outside of your RV to keep your site.

Handy item. Wish we had had them when our children were little. Might get a small one to keep in the car for our travels. We often en up in sandy areas.
