One of the bad parts about living in an apartment is the lack of space. Actually, I guess that’s probably the worst part. Since I started living in an apartment over a year and a half ago, I’ve found many ways to organize to give us more space. Until recently, one area where I had really struggled to find extra space was our closets. Particularly our linen closet and our bedroom closet.

The linen closet has one shelf of towels, hand towels and wash cloths, but all the other shelves are sheets, blankets, pillow cases and covers. Of course, nobody needs THAT many blankets and sheets, but it’s nice to have several extra sets of sheets, and blankets and pillows in case people sleep over. Our bedroom closet primarily stores our “hang up” clothing and our out of season clothes. Right now it’s full of shorts, sun dresses and tank tops, but soon I’ll put those into my dresser and put my sweaters and jeans in the closet. When I first heard about vacuum seal storage bags, they sounded great. Of course, I was hesitant that they would really work as well as they claimed. However, my storage issue was pretty crazy so I was willing to give them a shot, until I started looking at prices on some vacuum sealer bag websites. 12.00 for a bag that holds two sweaters? REALLY? It would take hundreds to take care of my entire closet! So I quit looking then and there. Until I heard about Space Saver brand vacuum seal bags. They come in a huge variety of sizes, and at a much more affordable price.

I was offered an extra-large sized bag, as well as a jump bag for review, and decided to give it a try. The sizes sounded much better than the ones I had seen before, but when they arrived I was amazed at how HUGE they were. These would definitely fit way more than 2 sweaters! In fact, the two bags wound up holding more than HALF of all the stuff in my linen closet! I was amazed at how well they worked. They went from huge – probably something like 10 or 12 inches thick, down to just a couple of inches thick! Once they were done I laid them in the bottom of my linen closet and that was it. The extra large and jump pack come packaged together and retail for 13.00. If I had one more set like this I could finish off my linen closet, and one or two more and I could compress my entire bedroom closet as well. So for something like 55 dollars I could compress both closets down to less than 1/2 of the space. Much more affordable than paying 12.00 for a bag that compresses two sweaters!

I love how Space Saver bags now come with lavender scents, so if you use the bags long term they won’t get that stale “packed away in the attic” scent on them. Here’s my proof. I think they basically speak for themselves!
