It’s no secret that college is expensive. REALLY expensive. Going to a community college near your home can save a lot of money on the cost of tuition, but the books can still be incredibly expensive. A great way to save money on books is to rent them from a place like campus book rentals for a few months while you’re taking the class, and return them once you’re done. That way, you don’t have to pay the full cost of the book you just pay to use the book for however long you need it. If you order books and then change classes or drop classes, you have 30 days to return the book to get a refund. If you’re like me, you have a tenancy to “mark up” your books – with campus book rentals it’s fine if you highlight portions of the book. How neat is that? You can choose to rent your book(s) for a semester (130 days), a quarter (85 days) or a summer (55 days). Plus, there is a 15 day grace period, which means you can rent a book for the summer (55 days) but you won’t have to pay any extra as long as the book is returned within 70 days. Plus, if you need to extend the rental period you can do so by 15 or 30 days. and lastly, if you take the course and find that the book is helpful and maybe you’ll use it in another class or to reference later on when you get a job in your field – you can choose to purchase the book from campus book rentals.
