Safees are a fun and reflective product designed to help keep kids and adults safe while walking, biking, jogging or doing anything in low light and the dark. Often small kids enjoy playing outside and parents worry about them while biking or walking, Safees are designed to help eliminate the worry by offering a reflective add on for your child to wear. They come in cute and fun shapes and colors like snowflakes, owls, dinosaurs and once the light hits the Safees you are up to 700 times more visible to oncoming traffic.

I received an owl and a snowflake to review and as soon as I opened the package he had the owl attached to his pants and was asking me if I was able to see him better.  After reading about the proper way to wear a Safees to ensure maximum visibility we waited for it to get dark.

A Safees should be worn on the side of the child that is facing oncoming traffic and around the waist level and left to dangle to be able to move freely. I attached the owl to my sons belt loop. They have a metal clip that’s very user friendly my son was able to clip and unclip his Safees himself. You can also attach an additional Safees to the back of your child to add more visibility. I also enjoyed the company’s online activity from a great blog and Facebook featuring tips and tricks to keep your kids safe and offering advice on how to talk to your kids about being street smart and keeping safe.

The ideas behind these are amazing, and it worked too. We took a walk around the neighbourhood and my son was fascinated that when a car came his owl started to glow as he called it. The hardest part was getting him to leave it alone; he wanted to bat at the cord attached to it, or use it as a police badge to stop people walking by with dogs. I felt better with him wearing it, I felt better with me wearing one. I noticed cars slowed down much faster and for longer when there lights made contact with our Safees.

When the cooler weather comes and the days get shorter, I will be making sure my son wears a Safee to school to help him be more visible waiting for the bus, in the rain and snow. I will be attaching on to his jacket pocket and one to his backpack.

I have the Safees packed for my son to go camping, if they work with head lights why not flash lights if some curious little legs walk a bit ahead on a night time run to the bathroom. At Halloween these will be added to his costume. They have been given a home at the front door by the hats and sunglasses and when its dusk or dark my son doesn’t fail to grab one and reminds me to get one when I go out for my night time walks.
