For the last few weeks I have been using the Nokia Lumia 900 which is a windows smartphone available exclusively for at&t users. I don’t typically comment about which products I am using for comparison but because there are such vast differences between phones I think it’s important to know where I’m basing my comparisons from. My boyfriend uses a Samsung Galaxy Prevail which is the only other smartphone I have experience with using as my other phone isn’t a smartphone. The screen size is 4.3″ which is so nice for browsing the web, taking pictures, etc because you can see everything really well. Some of my jeans have pockets that are too small to fit the phone in which is a bummer though Ryan’s jean pockets are always large enough for it to fit into. I also toss it in my purse if needed, so I’d like to get a case to protect the screen in my purse. We weren’t used to using a windows based phone, so we were surprised to learn that we couldn’t plug the phone into a computer via USB and just drag and drop photo and music files onto the computer. Instead you have to use zune which is a free program that was easy for me to get used to. Photo files can be shared to facebook with a simple click or you can email them one at a time instead. Ryan was really impressed to find out a neat feature of the phone. If you call someone and are talking, the phone goes into something similar to a “sleep” or “screensaver” mode. However, if you move it away from your head it ‘wakes back up’. This is really convenient for when we need to pay bills and use an automated ssystem that asks you to type in your credit card number or requires you to push 1 for this, 2 for that, etc. It come installed with internet explorer and it’s default search engine is bing. I don’t use internet explorer on any of my computers but it seems to work fine for the phone. When I have good signal strength the browser works pretty fast, but if the connection is poor (which for me only has happened around lakes), then it’s slower. 
For a smartphone camera, I’m impressed with the quality. It has 8mp and can take videos. It also has a front camera so that you can photos of yourself but it only has 1mp. When used inside, the photos tend to be grainy but outside it can take nice photos. The above photos were taken indoors with the front camera. The below photos were taken outdoors with the main camera. 
Here are two videos that I took with the nokia. One is outside and the other is inside a garage. Neither are very interesting (sorry) but they give you an idea of the video quality.
With 16GB of internal storage, you’ll have tons of room to store all of your files! Overall we like the phone. With a 2 year contract it costs $49.99 and I would certainly be happy to pay that for this phone if I were in a position to sign up for a new phone contract. It’s also available on Amazon for $307.43 (right now, but amazon prices can change at any time.)

I’ve always wanted to try a Windows phone, but never wanted to pay for one if it sucked – don’t want to be stuck with a crappy phone for 2 years. Not that I’m saying its a bad phone, just that I don’t have any experience with one and I’m a bit leery… thats all 🙂

If it helps the decision making. i have been infatuated with microsoft for a long time. i have both Zunes, the original and the Zune HD. i have both Xbox (Xbox and Xbox 360) My current phone is windows and i have only talked about owning the windows lumia since it came out. if you need reason as to why i want to win, check my facebook out (search my name) add me and look at my posts about the lumia 900, 920 and the windows surface tablet which im dying to have. having that phone will make things right for me
