This entire year has gone by so quickly, but this summer really flew by. I can’t believe Halloween is in 6 days! Seems how I don’t have kids, we don’t really do much decorating so I don’t usually think about Halloween for the last minute. Last year I went to get candy the night before Halloween and the store was completely wiped out of Halloween candy so I had to buy regular candy instead. If we end up going to any Halloween themed parties I tend to come up with a costume last minute. A few years ago I made Ryan a Luigi costume and myself a toad costume from clothing that we found at a thrift store, some felt and some fabric.

A year or two before that my little sister had told me that she wanted to be a ladybug and she wanted me to be one also. I could have easily found us ladybug costumes at the store but I saved roughly $35 by making our costumes from a red sheet, buttons, thread and some sticky felt. At the time I had incredibly limited sewing skills, but the costumes worked fine for the little family party we went to in our costumes so I was pleased with them.

The only other preparation that I usually do is buying candy. I like to save money, so I try to buy a big bag instead of several little bags as the price per oz is usually lower when you buy the larger bags. This year Hershey’s has put out a whopping 3.5lb mummy bag that has a combination of Twizzlers, Jolly Ranchers, Whoppers and Milk Duds. With 140 pieces per bag, this bag will last much longer on Halloween night. If you don’t get tons of children, you’ll even end up with leftovers to enjoy yourself. Who says adults can’t enjoy Halloween candy?

Buy it: You can find Hershey’s candy just about everywhere, even Amazon!
