Being a blogger is a bit weird because when I tell people that I’m a blogger, most of them look at me like I’m an alien. It’s even more strange to try and explain to them how I work with companies on reviews, giveaways and sponsored posts. Sometimes it seems like they don’t believe me at all – they don’t see what benefit companies get from sending me toys, clothing, eyeglasses – whatever else for “free”.
My blogging comes up with strangers or even with people who I’ve known for years but don’t see often, fairly regularly. I’ve had cashiers ask me about my free product coupons and strangers in public ask me what I do. It always takes several minutes to explain to the basic gist of what I do. Even family members who have known about my blog for over 3 years now still ask me questions about it because they don’t completely get it. So far I’ve only been to one blogging event which was an Ohio trip in 2011. It was awesome to get to meet other bloggers in real life while checking out some Ohio locations that I’d never been to before, such as the Toledo Art Museum.
I hope to take a flight to at least one blogging conference in 2013. I have three in particular that I’d LOVE to go to but honestly I’d go to any that I would feel could benefit me which is just about any of them. Plus, it’s just so fun to meet other bloggers because it’s so rare to find other bloggers in real life. Check out this video that shows two bloggers who meet at an airport.
Of course, the ad is sponsored by Sears but I think it’s so funny. It’s really refreshing to see other people acknowledge that bloggers exist because so often people have no idea what I’m referring to when I explain that I’m a blogger. I wish that this ad’s movie trailer wasn’t just a pretend trailer but was instead for a real movie. I’d definitely watch it!
This is a sponsored post, I am a Sears blogger, though all opinions are my own.
