It can be difficult goal for lunches because there are so many disposable products and good quality, safe, reusable options can be difficult to find. Fortunately, Fenigo is a store that simplifies the process by finding great litter-less products and offering them all under one roof.
Fenigo opened as an online store in 2008. The goal was to offer one of the greatest selection of green and little-less products for lunches. In 2011, they also opened a brick-and-mortar store in Waterloo, Canada.
The selection of products is truly amazing. They offer products that I’d never seen anywhere else as well as some of the most popular green products such as reusable bags, bamboo cutlery, etc. You can see below a small sample of the products you can find on Fenigo.
For this review, I received 3 great products that will help me reduce litter for my lunches. I chose a variety of innovative products and I was very excited to get to try them and share my experience with you. I received a Lunch Pot, a set of 3 collapsible bowls and an Abeego Wrap.
The first product is a Lunch Pot from Black+Blum. It is a set of 2 airtight bowls. The larger one can hold 18.5 floz (550ml) and the smaller one can hold 10 floz (300ml). They are held one on top of the other by an ingenious carry strap. There is a slit on the strap to place a spork (included with the Lunch Pot). When they are empty, the smaller container conveniently fits in the bigger one. Both containers are made of polypropylene and copolyester (so they are BPA-free) and are microwave and dishwasher safe (it is recommended not to put the Lunch Pot in the microwave for more than 2 minutes).
I love this Lunch Pot combo for my lunches. I can bring soup in one containers and veggies in the other. Or pasta salad and strawberries. Or yogurt and granola. I’ve even used it to carry a healthy snack for me and one for my daughter when we are out and about.
The second product is a set of 3 collapsible bowls from Aladdin. First of all, although it has absolutely nothing to do with the functionality of the bowls, I’d like to say that I love the colors of these bowls. Red, lime green and eggplant. Such modern and vibrant colors! Now, for the actual use of the bowls, I have to say that these are some of my favorite products!
First of all, there are 3 different sizes: 4 oz, 16 oz, and 32 oz. They are leak proof and made of BPA-free plastic. They are microwave and dishwasher safe. Each bowl collapses and when folded, they shrink to about a 1/3 of the size which means they don’t take a lot of room in my cupboards. I’ve used the medium one and the small one to carry snacks in my diaper bag and I love that I can just fold them when they are empty to save space. They are also great for lunches and with the different sizes, they’ll fit everything from salads and soups to fruits and veggies and dip and crackers, etc. I use the large and the medium one for leftovers as well.
The last product I received is one of the most innovative products I’ve come across in a while. It’s an Abeego Wrap. Abeego products are specifically made to store food in a fluid and air resistant fabric made of hemp and cotton. The fabric has a special coating made of beeswax, tree resin and jojoba oil.
I really like that this product contains no plastic whatsoever. It’s also easy to clean in cold water with a bit of dish soap. To store food in your Abeego Wrap, you simply fold each side in, then fold the top and bottom and secure by looping the rope around the clasp. The size makes it a versatile storage products: I can wrap my sandwich but I can also use it for veggies and fruits.
I was a little skeptical of the ability of the Abeego Wrap to keep my sandwich moist but after trying it a few times, I can tell you that it definitely does! I also really like the subtle smell of beeswax and I can confirm that it doesn’t transfer to food.
Overall, I am totally happy with my new lunch products from Fenigo and I can finally kiss plastic bags and disposable containers goodbye! I will definitely be getting more products from Fenigo in the future. The selection of products is great and it saves time because it’s truly a one-stop shop for everything you need to pack litter-less lunches!
