I received the Mini Himalayan Salt Lamp. Here is it directly out of the box.
Setting up the salt lamp was really easy to do. You just unwrapped it. I found that it felt a bit wet right after I unwrapped it, so I let the salt crystal sit for just a few minutes, then it was perfectly dry. Then you just push in the metal tabs on the light connected to the cord, and set the light in the lamp. And that’s it! The salt lamp is really sturdy on the rosewood base. I was worried that it would knock over easily, especially because we have a mischievous cat, but that has never been a problem.
The himayalan salt lamp gives a really beautiful soft glow. It can be lit during the day for a subtle glow, or at night to really illuminate the room. I really liked having it in the bedroom, because the glow from the light looked much like a sunset, so it helped me wind down to get ready to sleep. It also looks similar to a sunrise, so I used it in the morning to help me wake up. It could also make a great night light.
Himalayan salt lamps have purported health benefits among holistic health believers. The salt lamp is supposed to emit negative ions, which help neutralize the positive ions emitted from the electronics in our homes. This is supposed to help your energy levels, immune system and much more. Whether these benefits are true or not, I still enjoyed my salt lamp, simply because of the glow it provides.
My fiance also really liked the salt lamp. He really liked the glow, just like I did, it’s an almost addictive, really pleasant glow. We were also both impressed with the size. Even though it’s a “mini” salt lamp, it’s a really good size for a smaller room. Now we just want more salt lamps for every room!

These are really neat, I can see a teen really loving one of these lights. Do they get hot? ie if a young child touched it would they be burned?

This particular salt lamp doesn’t get hot. It just gets a bit warm, definitely wouldn’t burn anyone, and just feels good to the touch. I think most are supposed to just get warm, but it would depend on the brand, and the bulb that’s put in them.

Salt lamps are such a great way to create a warm and positive energy in a space. I have one in every room of my house for that reason. They also help to negate the effects of EMFs!

Just watched the product from rock-salt-lamp after reading your blog and seriously i am going to buy it for my sister who disturb me the whole night with horrible snoring voices.
We have one of these and absolutely love it! I use it every single day, particularly in the evenings to keep the upstairs dimly lit in case one of the kids wake up in the middle of the night.
