Doctor on Demand is an app that you can get on your phone or tablet. It lets you live video-chat with doctors to get medical advice or even a diagnosis (including prescription if needed) right on the app. The app isn’t suitable for emergency situations, or for health concerns that will require on-going care in the future. However, it is a really convenient way to get medical questions answered or to get a diagnosis for everyday illnesses such as pink eye, an ear infection or sinus infection. You can be speaking with a doctor in minutes without leaving your house.
I don’t have children of my own, but I imagine this would be really helpful for mothers with young children. I’ve went to doctors appointments with my sister and her toddlers. Some of the doctors in our area regularly leave people in the waiting room for 45+ minutes which feels much longer while trying to entertain a young child. Doctor on Demand is usually $40 per use which is roughly what a regular visit would cost me, and the convenience makes it more valuable.
If your diagnosis requires a prescription, your Doctor’s on Demand doctor can have the script sent to your local pharmacy for you to pick up.
Doctor on Demand recently added a mental health benefit. If you are stressed, depressed or dealing with relationship problems you can now use the app to speak with a psychologist. Doctor’s on Demand psychologists are all at the doctorate level!
Check out my Doctor On Demand review from July to read about Ryan’s experience using the app. He had a rash that wasn’t spreading, itching or burning so he kept forgetting to make an appointment for it. He used Doctor On Demand to speak with a doctor right from the couch. It was so convenient to speak with a doctor just minutes after remembering that he needed an appointment.
You may have heard that the flu has been particularly rough this year. February is often one of the worst months for the flu. To help you make it through February, Doctor on Demand is currently offering any/all new users a free first visit! To get your free visit use the code EMILY15.
Have you used Doctor on Demand? How did your “visit” go?
