It’s fall and the busy winter season is just about to begin. What could be better than a late vacation with the family to rejuvenate everyone before the craziness starts? Here are a few ideas for perfect trips that the whole family will love.

Cruise

One easy trip to take last minute is a cruise – you really can organise one in minutes these days. Often they take you to places that are still basking in the warm weather of summer and offer a convenient and cost-effective option for families. A cruise is a great way to save money since most of the amenities on board are complementary and the food and drinks are included. Many cruise lines include pools, mini golf, casinos, and myriad other entertainment options aboard the ship, while also offering excursions which can be as active or relaxing as each family decides. Plus, the destinations are endless – you could enjoy the Caribbean or go further afield to places like the Costa del Sol or the Mediterranean.

For the animal lovers in your family, taking a Safari could be an excellent option for a late season trip. Safaris offer the perfect way to keep both kids and parents engaged with a variety of wildlife to view, as well as other interesting outdoor landmarks. In places like Tenerife in the Canary Islands, you and your family could see everything from stunning wildlife rich mountains to islands where pirates used to operate.

Eco-Camping

For the green and eco-conscious travelling broods, eco camping is always an option. Finding a place in nature, away from the more mass tourism locations, can be a great way to get your kids invested in the future of the planet. Eco camping is a money saver and can help teach kids about the importance of preserving natural wonders. There are also eco-friendly hotels for those who want to go green whilst keeping a roof over their heads! This is also a perfect fall holiday because families can enjoy the splendor of changing leaves, crisp autumn air and bonfires.

Adventure Vacation

Adventure vacations are another option for families. These trips usually come with a package deal, wherein families can try white-water rafting, rappelling or kayaking. Research beforehand can help pinpoint which activities are of the most importance to the family and parents can save money by packing and cooking their own food.

Snorkeling or Diving

If your family is all about the tropical locations, another fun activity is to go snorkeling or diving. In terms of conserving funds, snorkeling is probably your best bet, especially because many hotels or resorts offer free equipment for your family. Locations like Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands offer up endless beauty right beneath the warm waters’ surface and snorkeling can keep you and your kids occupied for days! Another budgeting tip for warm locations is to refill large water bottles instead of buying new ones on the beach and have a plan for souvenir buying before you arrive, so that both you and your kids avoid impulse buys.

Whether you’re after a no-frills package deal, an all-inclusive luxury break or an eco camping trip to the woods, enjoy your holiday this fall.

Oh I like the eco-camping idea and would love to stay at an eco-friendly hotel. I’m all for saving money! It’s just me and a plus one if I can find someone on short notice. I definitely want to camp with someone since I don’t have my immediate family around. I did a weekend adventure vacation when my parents visited in Colorado (kayaking and rollerblading) and they loved it.
