This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of UPS for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
When we think about paying it forward or giving to others during the holiday season we usually think of gifts or financial donations. There are many wonderful charities who accept gifts, food and financial donations at the holiday season and I love being able to help them out because it feels good to help another in need. However, a lot of good can be done even if you don’t have the money to purchase donations. Giving your time and helping those in your community can make their life easier or simply brighten their day.

I think my dad is a great example of someone who gives of himself without making financial donations. My uncle (my dads brother) passed away about a year and a half ago. His wife was left widowed and she is legally blind. As a result of her vision trouble, she’s unable to drive or do yard work which is problematic because she owns a small farm. My dad visits her about twice a week to help her with yard or household chores or to take her to run errands. My dad helping her in these ways has made it possible for her to remain living in her home instead of moving into assisted living. He’s also just constantly giving his time. He has seven children and he’s always willing to do favors for us. I moved into a new house last week and have a washer/dryer hookup of my own for the first time. I bought a washer and he hauled it for me. My siblings have young children and hate wrapping presents so he often gets put on wrapping duty for his grandkids, which even stretches to include assembling toys or gifts. I would really have to stop and think to come up with any situations where I’ve seen him turn down someone requesting a favor from him.

I really believe that everyday people who do small acts of kindness for others make a difference in the world. Certain careers do so much good as well – from firemen, therapists, teachers, police, social workers and UPS workers.
UPS workers work very hard during the holiday season to help deliver packages that are presents, donations and of course just everyday household deliveries. I know that my own holiday season would be a lot tougher if I didn’t have access to UPS to deliver my holiday decor and gifts to my door.
UPS wants to hear about the ways that you or someone in your life helps deliver wishes so they have created UPS #WishesDelivered. Share a story about someone like my dad who pays it forward in any way on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #WishesDelivered and UPS will donate $1 to a charity on your behalf. The donations will go to several organizations including Boys & Girls Clubs of America, World Food Programme, Toys For Tots Literacy Program, The Salvation Army, and The UN Refugee Agency. Up to $150k will be donated by UPS!
If you don’t have a twitter or instagram account you can submit your wish directly to the #WishesDelivered Site.
I’d love to hear what your wish for good is this holiday season! What’s your wish?
Hi there! I am Emily Evert, the owner of Emily Reviews. I am 28 and live in a small town in Michigan with my boyfriend Ryan and our two pugs. I have a large family and I adore my nieces and nephews. I love reading memoirs, and learning about child development and psychology. I love watching The Game of Thrones, Teen Mom, Sister Wives and Veep. I like listening to Jason Isbell, John Prine, and other alt-country or Americana music. I created Emily Reviews as a creative outlet to share my life and the products that I love with others.

I like to help children and animals. My wish is to make the world a safer and happier place for them, My family collects toys all year for the Christmas Gift box at our local Firehouse. We also donate slightly used toys to a local Children’s Hospital.

My wish would be that those who are lonely, without friends or family nearby, could get a visit or two from a neighbor or church volunteer. It sucks to be lonely during the holidays, especially if you are also elderly/retired and sitting at home.
