Food or treat gift baskets are such a wonderful gift, in my opinion. They are a great solution for so many people who are hard to shop for. Whether you have an elderly person on your list who isn’t very active, or someone who owns all of the toys and gadgets they want, or someone who you just don’t know very well – a treat gift basket is a great solution. Everyone likes yummy food of some kind or another, so 1-800-baskets have something they would like.

The 1-800 Baskets website has gift baskets for cookies,snacks, chocolate, meat and cheese, coffee and tea, fruit and more. They also have assortments that would be ideal to have out at holiday parties, or to use as stocking stuffers. They have a few “related” companies that can be purchased through their site as well. The first two items discussed below are through Fannie May, one of their related brands that specializes in chocolate gifts.

We brought the Christmas Tree Assortment of chocolates to an early family party that we had. Everyone picked out of it throughout the party and commented about how good everything was. Ryan is a big fan of eggnog so he tried a piece of chocolate that was eggnog flavored and he said it was extremely good. He had never seen an eggnog variety of chocolate before so he found that to be really creative and festive at the same time. This set came in a Christmas-tree shape with cute owls on the top of the lid. It is perfect for gift-giving without even needing to be wrapped.

We were also sent the Novelty Trio. This is a neat box that shows three cut-outs on the lid. One is a Christmas tree, another is a gift and the third is a snowman. To go with the “trio” theme, the chocolates inside are wrapped as santas, gifts and snowmen. These would be great for filling a stocking with, or to leave out at a holiday themed party.

The last item that I picked out was with my dad in mind. My dad is 71, but he’s still fairly active for his age in the summer. In the winter it’s tough for him to find much to do. He’s also waiting to move into a new house, so he’s renting a tiny apartment for a couple of months. With him not having much to do, and not having much space I was really struggling to come up with a gift idea for him. I knew that he loves sweets though so I thought a fun assortment of different desserts would be perfect. I chose the Pinecones & Plaid Festive Sweets Gift Tower. I liked the look of the gift tower because it looked suitable for men. It has four layers and six types of treats. It includes strawberry jam shortbread, Harry London® peppermint bark bites, Harry & David® dark chocolate truffles, twice the spice cinnamon drops, vienna coffee flavored cookies and The Popcorn Factory®  kettle corn.I liked how this had a wide variety of different types of desserts.
