I have been provided with a Nutrisystem plan in exchange for sharing my honest experience and results on my blog. All opinions are my own.
Have you ever heard of people putting on “winter weight”? I know some people who put on 5-10 pounds each winter and then lose it each summer as a result of the difference in their activity level. I think this is probably most common with people who have outdoor jobs that slow down quite a bit during the winter.
However, it seems like most of us are less active during the winter. It’s a great idea to be conscious of your activity level so that you don’t slow down too much.
Early days of the house going up last month.
Ryan has 2 main ways of staying active in the winter. The main one is to keep up his exercise as usual. We have an exercise bike, barbells and a weight bench that he uses to work out from home. In the past his main focus was on the bike to lose weight, and now he’s focusing much more on gaining muscle. He also does body weight fitness such as push-ups and sit-ups. Regardless of your exercise routine, finding some way to keep it up during the winter whether it is in your home or at a gym is a great first step.
Second, he tries to not use the winter weather as an excuse to turn things down. He will run the snowblower to clear our driveaway so we can still get out and do the activities that we want to do. He’s helped my dad and my brother as they have been working on building a house recently. It requires a good bit of physical labor and it’s pretty cold to be working on but it burns some calories while helping people we love.
Of course, it’s super important to keep eating well, too. You’ll have less to burn off if you eat the right calorie level. Nutrisystem makes this super easy for Ryan because he can just grab a breakfast, lunch, etc from Nutrisystem without inspecting the nutrition label every single time.
How do you stay active during cold weather?

Hubby and I just joined the new Planet fitness in our town for winter exercise. It gets us out of the house and not sitting in front of the TV all night long.

I shovel snow, bring in wood for the woodburner (we use it to supplement the furnace) and I am outside aa lot with the dog. It is going to snow ten inches so I am sure I will burn off any weight.
