nutrisystem entrees

I am a Nutrisystem Nation blogger. I am provided with a Nutrisystem plan in exchange for updating regularly. All opinions are my own.

In the first few weeks of Ryan being on Nutrisytem I talked about what he thought of the food. This week I got a comment from a reader asking if the food is good or not. I realized it has been well over a year since I’ve talked about the food flavor and variety, so I thought it was time for an update on that!

Ryan considers himself to be a picky eater. There are some common foods (like tomatoes) that he doesn’t like, but he’s more sensitive to texture than flavor. For example, he won’t re-heat certain foods that change texture when re-cooked such as potato products, breads and pastas.

Nutrisystem involves eating foods that are shelf-stable or frozen, and then microwaved. Now with most foods that have microwave and oven instructions, Ryan would always cook them int he oven. So when seeing that some Nutrisystem products only have the option of being cooked in the microwave, we were considered that the texture would not be tolerable to him.

He did try a few shelf-stable Nutrisystem entrees that included pasta that he did not like the texture of. These were bagged or boxed entrees. However, there are many cup-based entrees such as little cups of mac and cheese, rice or pasta that cook really nicely in his opinion.

Overall he’s only found a handful of Nutrisytem options that he really did not care for. Many of his foods smell good to me and he’s even let me try a bite of some and they were quite good in my opinion and I am a very picky eater – much more so than Ryan.

If you are interested in Nutrisystem but are worried about the taste or texture, you can place a small order through Nutrisytem.com. You do not have to place a full month order at a time if you don’t want to.

rious as to how good they taste. Texture can be a deal breaker for me as well.

Thank you for the update. I have had some of the foods and liked them. I am not a picky eater but they really were good to me.

It looks like NS has a lot of food to choose from each month so finding many foods one likes, wouldn’t be too difficult. So glad that Ryan has been successful on this plan.

I love that you can place a small order to try things out!! I have seen so many varieties but probably would be wary of microwaving everything too!!

As long as the foods arent overspiced I wouldnt have a problem with them. Some ‘diet’ foods in my experience use way too much hot flavoring for my taste while others dont. I can eat nearly anything though, and and havent ever been a picky eater.
I am glad he has found work arounds when it calls for microwaving.
