I am a Nutrisystem nation blogger. I am provided with a Nutrisystem meal plan in exchange for regular updates. All opinions are my own.

On Nutrisystem there are a few ways to handle holidays. You could stick with your Nutrisystem entrees, instead of eating with family members. Or you could use your weekly “flex meal”. The flex meal includes two “PowerFuels” and two “SmartCarbs” of your choosing. Both should be around 80-120 calories each. SmartCarbs are primarily fruits, starchy veggies or whole grains. PowerFuels are primarily lean-protein sources (dairy, meat or nuts).

Easter is an interesting holiday because the main meal is usually a bit healthier than other holidays – at least that’s the case in our family. We don’t exchange baskets as adults so we don’t buy any Easter candy. The meal itself usually includes ham and mashed potatoes, rolls and veggies. Plus, lots of hard boiled eggs as left over from dying.

All of these foods can be healthy and fit into Nutrisystem in moderation! This Easter Ryan plans to eat right with our family and he will probably have two servings of ham (PowerFuels) and two servings of mashed potatoes (SmartCarb). He will skip the roll because we don’t usually buy whole grain. Then the veggies (usually green beans and carrots in our family) can count towards his four servings of veggies for the day.

He doesn’t care for hard boiled eggs, but they work great as a PowerFuel for anyone on Nutrisystem. Also keep in mind that servings of non-starchy veggies are unlimited so you can fill up on green beans, carrots, asparagus or similar veggies if needed.

How are you planning to eat for Easter?
