Giftyou create a wish list

This post was sponsored by giftYou. All opinions are my own.

I find it so much harder to shop for adults or teens than young kids. As we get older, our needs and interests become much more refined. In most cases, when I know an adult has a specific hobby, it’s still not something I am very informed about so it’s hard to buy them gifts related to the hobby that they need and want. It never occurred to me to ask them to create a wish list because I thought it would limit me to one retailer.

Many of us default to “safe” gifts like gloves, scarves, flashlights, slippers, etc. Of course, I’m always appreciative when someone goes out of their way to get me a gift of any kind. I’ve never had anyone be anything but courteous when I gave them a gift, too. However, it’s a bummer to sit back and wonder if they really like or get much use out of your gift. I sometimes wish I knew what their own personal holiday wish list was, so I could get something they really, truly wanted.

giftYou is a service that makes it possible to provide and exchange holiday wish lists with your family members. Unlike store wish-lists, you can list items that are available at any stores which is great for people who like items that are handmade or otherwise rare or hard to find. On the buyer’s side, it gives you the freedom to purchase the item wherever you are already shopping or wherever you find the best deal.

I also like how it can prevent duplicate gifts. In the past I have received invitations to children’s birthday parties that say something like “He really likes toy cars!” or he’s really into this specific character or children’s TV show. So I head to the store and buy a gift that falls into that category, only to find out that the child already owned that item or that someone else attending the party purchased the same item. Simply create a wish list on giftYou, and both of these problems are eliminated.

Keep up with giftYou on Facebook and Twitter.

This is a great website. Right now we just do a secret santa exchange for the adult members in our family. There’s little chance of duplicates but still it would be nice to have a list of things they picked out themselves to work from.

This is what wee need. It just doesn’t seem right that Amazon should get all of the business just because they have the biggest wishlist.

This is a great idea~ shopping for my nieces and nephews is so challenging! Since I have a daughter, the girls are easy to shop for but it’s still such a chore.

I seriously love that you can choose items from any place!! I swear something like this has been so long overdue lol!! I always have an Amazon wishlist but sometimes things aren’t on there or are better priced elsewhere!

I really like this service. I only have a little money to spend. I want to get something they really want… not just a gift to open.

This is a great idea! Some family members are so hard to buy for. I also have family that buys what they like without taking the recipient into consideration.

This somehow takes the fun out of Christmas for me. I like to take the time to find my family original gifts.

This sounds pretty interesting, I have never heard of this before but I wouldn’t mind trying this with my family, because sometimes I do buy gifts and I know they are passing it to someone else..LOL.
