I was sent pretend play gifts from Great Pretenders for my holiday gift guide. All opinions are my own.
All of my nieces and nephews have gone through at least a short phase of being interested in pretend play. Many have been interested in pretend play for years! My 4-year-old niece has loved dressing up, pretending to cook food, being “mommy” to her baby dolls, and other forms of pretend play for a couple of years now. I was browsing the Great Pretenders site looking for a pretend play outfit for her and once I came across the Pink Doctor With Accessories set I knew it was perfect for her. Her mom works in an elderly care facility and swears scrubs to work each day. I thought she would love having a little set of scrub pants for herself, and then the doctor’s coat, hat and accessories to allow for role play as a doctor. Accessories include a mask, stethoscope, syringe, and thermometer. This set is also available in a green doctor set if you prefer that color.
Great pretenders has many dress up or role play outfits and costumes. However, they also have many other pretend play items such as dress up accessories like jewelry and purses, dolls and puppets, and other toys like teethers!
My niece likes purses and cats, so I couldn’t pass up this pretty kitty purse. It has a long strap that lets it be worn across the body or over the shoulder. It’s big enough to fit small toys or a snack, or to be used to hold money.
We were sent the Cherub Baby Blue which is an absolutely darling soft baby doll. It is safe for babies starting at birth so it would be ideal for a first doll!
Last but not least is the color a puppet set. This kit includes two puppets, and each puppet has a different design on each side. So you get four characters in the kit, and kids can color each character in the design of their choosing. I love how it’s a craft activity and a toy both. Great Pretenders has an entire color-in-collection line that includes items that can be colored and then used as a toy or accessory. They are a great option for creative kids.

My nephew has seen me in a wheelchair since the day he was born. He has seen his mother battle cancer twice in his almost six years of life. One day, out of the blue. he said to me that he wants to be a doctor so that he can make his mom and I all better. He would love this to get a sense of what doctors do.

This doctor’s kit is beyond adorable. When my girls were young, I got a similar item for my oldest and a vet kit like it for daughter #2. They spent more time playing with those gifts than anything else they got for Christmas, and continued using them for a long time afterwards. I love gifts that allow a child to explore their creativity and fantasy.
