There is one thing that is most important to parents at the end of a long day, and that is sleep. Having two kids of my own, I can say I have a lot of experience in this area. I know many tips and tricks to make bedtime easier.
Stick To A Routine
You definitely need to stick to a bedtime routine. This will help children’s minds and bodies become programmed like clockwork. It is important to make sure your kids go to sleep at around the same time each day. This helps the child get enough rest and makes their body get used to the amount of sleep they are getting each day. I like to put my children to sleep no later than 8:00 pm. It is not too early and not too late at the same time and it gives them plenty of rest. This gives me time to get a few things done that I could not get to, before getting ready for bed myself.
Reduce Screen Time
It is important to reduce electronic device activities about an hour before bed so that the mind can start to relax and calm down. When there is a usage of electronics right before bed, even television, it keeps the brain in an active mode and keeps the mind racing.

Create A Comfortable Atmosphere
Creating a warm, low light atmosphere can also make a big difference. It is important to have a clean room, a bed that is made and ready to get into, warm and soft blankets, a comfortable pillow, and low lights to create an atmosphere that is ready for sleep. A really important thing to have is a high quality, comfortable mattress. I know that I need a comfortable mattress to be able to drift off into dreamland.
Control Eating And Drinking
It is also important not to have large amounts of snacks and liquids right before bed. Large snacks and liquids can cause upset stomach and bathroom accidents in the middle of the night. If you have a little one that likes to get up multiple times in the night for no reason at all, don’t give in. Just let them know that they should get back into bed to get a restful night of sleep, so they have plenty of energy to play or go to school in the morning. It is important to talk to your child about the importance of a restful night.
