It was probably about 10 years ago now when I first heard of bamboo clothing. When I first heard of bamboo clothing I was confused. I had no idea that bamboo could be turned into fabric! I thought bamboo was wood. I guess I had a lot to learn!

My first experience with bamboo, I was impressed with how soft it felt, but the shirt was really thin. When looking at the Spun Bamboo website, the clothing looked a bit thicker or more durable so I was curious to give it a try.

I am sort of between sizes right now in juniors clothing, and I wasn’t sure if their women’s clothes would be closer to juniors sizing or ‘true’ women’s/misses sizing. I decided to go with the larger size just to be safe, and I’m really glad I did because even this larger size was a little more snug in my lower belly or “love handle” area than I would like. I don’t own any clothing in this size that is too tight, so I would say their clothing is closer to juniors than women, and still runs small in terms of width, at least this v-neck style does. I think the length is slightly generous, which I really love even though I think it’s probably designed more for tall, slim people. I am short, but I like the security of being able to lift my arms or otherwise move about without worry that my shirt will expose my lower back or lower belly.

I was correct that the Spun Bamboo clothing was thicker than the bamboo shirt I had tried in the past was. I’d say this was what I would expect in a typical v-neck style t-shirt. Certainly not ‘thick’, but not paper thin either. I like the cut of the v-neck, it is a good height on my body, not too high or too low.

I haven’t had him try them on yet because I’ll be giving them as gifts. However, I wanted to tell you about these so you can use them as gift ideas if you’d like. Ryan wears a lot of plain t-shirts. Many of his have gotten a bit old and worn. I thought he could use some new ones for Christmas. He’s always just purchased gotten shirts, so I thought we’d see what he thinks of bamboo! Their regular men’s shirts run from small to XXL, and then they have a plus size line 3x to 8x making it a great place to shop for men in those bigger sizes that I imagine are hard to find.

I also selected their Bamboo fleece lounge pants. Working from home here in Michigan in the winter means he wears a lot of lounge pants to stay comfy and warm. I haven’t given him these yet either, but they feel thick and soft to me! They are sold in sizes small-XL and come in navy or gray.
