Where I live (a small-ish town in rural-ish Michigan) it’s fairly common for people to have chickens. My dad had chickens most of my life, several of my cousins do, a friend of mine from high school, etc. Some people I know who have chickens simply have chickens. Others really are chicken people. They adore their birds, and it’s a full-on hobby or even passion for them.
