momentum carnivore nutrition cat treats

Momentum Carnivore Nutrition sent me cat treats for review. All opinions are my own.

These days, I only have a cat, but I used to have two dogs. One thing all three of the pets I’ve owned have in common is that they absolutely LOVE single-ingredient freeze-dried treats. My husband and I joke that it might be the “stink,” because freeze-dried treats do have a noticeable smell, though we don’t notice it outside of opening the bag and giving a treat. Maybe the scent adds to their interest, too.

However, I think it’s mostly about how natural and carnivorous single-ingredient treats are. Cats and dogs are naturally drawn to meat, and freeze-dried treats are often nothing but beef, chicken, or other specific parts of an animal. That perfectly aligns with what pets are naturally drawn to.

As a pet owner, I feel good about giving my pets treats this simple. I don’t have to worry about what fillers are included or whether they’re healthy.

Momentum offers a wide range of freeze-dried treats. Pepperoni (that’s my cat’s name if you’re new here) absolutely goes crazy for their freeze-dried minnows, which are exactly what you think they are: minnows that have been freeze-dried. She has also gone crazy for the Momentum freeze-dried chicken hearts we’ve tried with her.

While we haven’t tried them all yet, Momentum also offers turkey heart, chicken breast, duck neck, turkey liver, beef heart, bison liver, and many others. If your pet has a protein allergy, single-ingredient options like these can make it easier to know exactly what you’re serving.

Some of Momentum’s treats come in full size (like the minnows), while others are made into bite-size pieces (like the beef heart pieces). Momentum also has a “Training Bites” line, made into extra-tiny pieces so you can use them for training without overfeeding your pet.

In my experience, freeze-dried treats are great for training because they tend to be high-value rewards for pets. As I said earlier, my cat goes crazy for the minnows and the chicken hearts in particular.

Momentum is a family-owned, Wisconsin-based company that has been freeze-drying pet treats for nearly 30 years, and everything is made and sourced in the USA. Momentum says its treats are safe for dogs too, so they’re a good option for households with more than one kind of pet.

Pepperoni gets gifts for Christmas, because she’s part of the family! If you’re shopping for a cat (or dog) who loves a good treat, Momentum’s freeze-dried treats are an easy stocking stuffer.
