Sumo lounge review

Thank you to Sumo Lounge for providing me with product in exchange for review purposes. All opinions belong to me.

My living room has literally been stuck in a furniture rut, since we bought our house, 4 years ago. We have had all of our furniture in the exact same spot for that whole 4 years! Why you ask are we in this furniture rut? We have a beautiful chimney that floats through our living room, while it is aesthetically pleasing it has always felt like a piece we needed to work around or avoid. That is until we got the Omni Plus From Sumo Lounge.

Sumo Lounge is a company that offers extreme comfort at the hands of a modern bean bag. When most people think bean bag they get flash backs of the round bag that deflated quickly, or worse spewed styrofoam beans everywhere! Sumo Lounge has modern stylish bean bags to fit every need from a super sized couch style to small single chairs and even bed style options!

I received the Omni Plus for review. The Box was surprisingly small considering the dimensions listed on the site (6ft long 5ft wide).

I opened the box and these were the contents inside.

It was at this point my husband was beginning to think I had read the dimensions wrong. I assured him that it was packed super small for shipping but would expand to the full 6ft by 5ft. As per the instructions I started to carefully unwrap the tape and plastic that was holding everything compressed.

Sumo Lounge

Following instructions again I avoided use of a sharp object and just unwrapped all of the tape, which took a bit longer but made me feel at ease since I was afraid to tear the lining.

Sumo Lounge

Once completely unwrapped the plastic, the “guts” of the bean bag began to expand rather quickly! I should clarify that this Omni Plus is mostly made up of foam pieces, not beans.

Sumo Lounge

This is after a few rolls on the ground and some hand kneading.

Sumo Lounge

The cover was so big, at this point my mind thought “Do we have the space for this bean bag?”

Sumo Lounge

We slipped the inside guts into the cover extremely easily and moved onto kneading the foam bits inside a bit more. The kids were practically frothing at the bit to get on this thing! So we gave it a testing sit! As you can see it passed the comfort snuggle test.

Sumo Lounge

Next was figuring out the perfect spot for this Omni Plus in our weird crowded living room. We were inspired to move furniture we had never moved, unplug the cables and run them differently, we were finally climbing out of the furniture rut! It took a lot of moving around, rearranging, moving around again and a little fitness to get things just right. In the end I’m so so happy with the way we arranged our furniture, there is so much more room even though we added furniture! Here’s the Omni Plus’s resting place, or when company comes another seating option.

Sumo Lounge

We have some favorite ways to sit in this bean bag, they have pretty much become staples! There’s the big fat leg rest (something featured every night).

Sumo Lounge

A taller more relaxed lounge seat.

Sumo Lounge

A lower bed cushion-like option, or as my kids see it in this position, a jumping cushion to practice couch leaps and bounds!

Sumo Lounge

A video game chair option. I really like this as sitting this way creates a support for your back. Not to mention there aren’t any hard uncomfortable pressure points you normally get with sitting.

Sumo Lounge

So that you can better see how well this Sumo Lounger Omni Plus works with furniture and living room layouts here is my whole living room! Sumo Lounge

Now that we have arranged furniture it seems we need some art on that back wall there. I feel like the bean bags from Sumo Lounge are so much more than the tacky deflated sacks that were piled in everyones dorm rooms, they add a huge amount of comfort with style as a priority.

That is a big lounge piece and very versatile. I don’t change my furniture around either but that’s OK. I just need enough space to workout and do yoga on the floor!

  • It looks super comfy! Definitely think I need one for the living room!

This thing looks awesome! And I love that the stuffing isn’t beans. The bean bags I had as a kid were trouble if they ripped…. beans everywhere! My husband would actually fit on this 6 foot bean bag too

That is the Coolest pillow Ever! I totally want one (to bad I don’t have the room, but my sister has plenty of room over at her house, I think she’ll really want one too. I think the weirdest thing about the pillow – I’ve never know of a pillow where assembly is required, lol.

  • Michelle S

At first I thought it was just a big pillow, but the pictures you shared showed a lot of different uses. It’s really cool!
