For a while now I have been trying to think of ideas to incorporate personal posts and interaction with my readers. However, until now I couldn’t really think of much to write about. I think ‘mommy bloggers’ have it much easier than people who haven’t had children yet, because if all else fails they can talk about the funny things their kid said that day, etc. I’ve always struggled to come up with a topic because Ryan and I are just a typical couple and 99% of what we do is just too boring to blog about. However, I have noticed that some of the blogs I follow will do a quick post that asks their readers a question, and then the blogger answers it. Typically it’s done as a weekly segment. I am not so great at scheduling posts ahead of time, so I won’t do it on a set day each week, but I would like to start new segment where I ask you a question that invites discussion, even if it’s a quick and easy answer. I appreciate my readers and want to get to know all of you better.
So, for my first random question I want to know – What are you doing for new years?
Ryan and I got a neat gift from his mom and step dad. They bought us a hotel package that includes a 1 night stay at hotel that includes a movie, popcorn, pizza and other snacks that takes place on new years eve. She said the hotel regularly does events and that we could reschedule if we wanted, but seems how we hadn’t made any plans prior to Christmas we are leaving it for new years. The hotel is about an hour from here and only about half an hour from our home town so it’s not a real get away but it will be fun to get away even if it is close to home. What are your new years plans?

That sounds like a lot of fun. We don’t do much. Make some yummy snacks and watch tv. : )

Your getaway sounds like fun! We always stay home because I don’t want to deal with the people who have been drinking on the road. Plus, we have kids, so it’s expensive to get a babysitter!

Just being away in a hotel instead of your home makes a big difference. It is a break and something special. My husband gets up for work at 4AM, so any kind of New Year’s Eve celebrating is out. We celebrate on New Year’s Day with our children and their families. Have the Parades and games on all day, with snacks and drinks for everyone. Play board games and the kids will play outside.
Hope 2011 is great for you both. -
yes your right, if all else fails we do add in posts about the children lol. But people without children also have great things to share as well, and I would love to dream using what you experience that I can’t do because I have the children lol.
Anyways we are not doing anything for new years like always, we never do anything for any holidays because of the children, if we do something it is child friendly 🙂 which is ok, but after 15 years straight lol, i do want something different.
Also I am participating in an awesome blogging challenge, no need to be a mom blogger, it is open to any blogger come join us at http://www.ultimateblogchallenge.com it is free and lots of fun.

It’s just me and my guy, and we’ll stay home and watch tv or play games. Thinking about making us drinks though. Your night sounds fun!

We are staying in for New Year Eve and clelbrating quietly since drinking and driving is out of the question. Then we are going to a New Year’s Day brunch at my co-worker’s house.

I’m thinking about staying in this year and celebrating by trying something new as the new year rings in (maybe even finding a way to celebrate as they would in another country). 🙂
