I think that I may have mentioned before that one of my biggest weaknesses is beef jerky. Some days I’d tell you that my favorite food is beef jerky, and others I’d say peanut butter fudge. But, it’s definitely top two. I’ve found that there are two main types of beef jerky, one comes in a shiny, ‘wet’ like feel and appearance, and the other is a dry, rough feel. I’ve found that the dry, rough type tends to be much better tasting, and was pleased to discover that Jerky John’s makes that ‘dry, rough’ type jerky that has no saturated fat, no trans fat, is low in calories and low cholesterol. I’ll be honest. It sounded great, but I was a bit worried about how it would taste. Can healthy beef jerky still taste good? Well, I was sent four flavors to test out and they were all AMAZING. Really, really good! So much so, that they don’t taste “healthy” in any way. All four flavors I tried were great. My favorite was the regular american original jerky, and second was the black pepper. I enjoy a decent amount of spice or ‘hotness’ in jerky and food in general, but I have a limit that can’t be crossed. I found that this jerky was nice a spicy without overdoing it. The cayanne hot jerky was much the same, nice and not without being so overpowering that you couldn’t keep eating it. I’m not typically a huge teriyaki fan, but it was definitely tasty as well. I don’t think any jerky lover could be disappointed in Jerky John’s. It’s just good! I don’t like how so many brands of chips and other snacks often fill a bag half full, so that the bag or package looks big. I was really impressed with how much jerky was shoved in the bags at Jerky Johns. They don’t waste packaging, and I love that. Jerky Johns has a neat service where you can ship jerky directly to a soldier. If you know a soldiers address, you can use it, or if you want to donate to a soldier you don’t know, you just let them know, pay for the jerky and shipping and they’ll send it off to a soldier on their list. Jerky Johns is a great company and their jerky is great. I couldn’t be more pleased 🙂
