A couple of years ago when I was getting ready to go to my junior prom, I was so excited. I even joined the prom committee so that I could have my say in the decorations, the DJ and everything in between. However, once it got time to go dress shopping, I quickly grew discouraged. At barely 5 foot tall, I’ve always felt silly in floor length dresses. For the typical short person, a floor length dress can make you seem taller. However, when you’re as short as me they just seem to make you look like a short person trying to look taller. So I knew I wanted a short dress, and that it needed to have straps. Other than that, I was open to whatever I found. It didn’t sound that picky to me, but when I started going around to local department stores all I could find were full length dresses. On the rare occasion that I did find a short dress, it was almost always the only style they carried, and usually cost a couple hundred dollars. In the end, I wound up convincing my best friend’s mom to make my dress for me, so that I could have it exactly as I wanted. If I had known at the time about prom dresses by David’s Bridal I wouldn’t have made her go through so much work. David’s bridal has 3 pages of short dresses – that’s at least four times as many short dresses as I saw at any of the stores I visited. Plus, they are all under 150.00, with many under 100.00! If you prefer gowns, you have a ton of amazing choices at David’s bridal. They even have a collection by Jessica Simpson. The dresses are absolutely gorgeous, and they aren’t so over the top that you couldn’t wear them again. Many of the dresses would be great for weddings or other similar events, making them even more affordable if you can get more wear out of the dress. Be sure to check out David’s bridal before prom!
