I’m a natural worrier. When I first heard about acupressure and it’s potential for relieving stress, I was very interested. I love natural techniques for solving problems, and had wanted to try it out. So when I heard that Yantra makes acupressure mats that you simply lay on, I knew I had to try one out. I received the medium sized yantra mat for review. When it arrived I was surprised by two things. The first being, how sharp the points seemed, and the second was how small the discs are. From seeing the mat online I thought they were big, but in reality they are only about an inch across. At first, I layed down on the mat with a t shirt on. I was surprised that I couldn’t feel anything. So I took my shirt off and tried again and was surprised that it barely hurt at all. The only time it’s actually painful is when I am getting on or off of the mat. If I curl my back while sitting up, my weight is concentrated onto the curved part of my back and that hurts. Likewise, if I curl my back while laying back on the yantra mat, that hurts too. Otherwise, it’s pain free for me. However, I had my boyfriend try it out too and he found it to be more painful than he cared to deal with. He’s definitely not more of a wimp than I am, so I assume this difference is caused by the difference in our body weight. I really like the mat, and even if I just lay on it for 2 minutes and get up, I feel good. Once I get up I get a warm, slightly burning feeling across the area I had laid on the mat, but it feels really refreshing. For some people this mat is great for laying for long periods of time, but I have adhd and can’t lay perfectly still for very long so I just use it for a few minutes at a time. For others, this mat would be great for using to sleep on. I enjoy it right before I fall asleep, but due to my tossing and turning before I drift off, I end up throwing the mat aside before I fall asleep. The medium yantra mat is a good size for me, it covers my entire back and part of my backside as well. For larger people or those who want to use the mat on more surface area at once, there are two other mat sizes available. The large is 10.00 more and the extra large is 20.00 more. This is a great, natural way to relax! For other natural ways to relax, check out bodo wellness.
