The main reason why I keep a personal facebook page is to keep up to date with my friends and family’s lives. Part of that is through status updates, but I also enjoy seeing new pictures, especially those of my nieces, nephews and other young kids. Kids grow so fast and if you don’t live near by and visit regularly, their appearance chances and you can miss out on a lot. Using online photo sharing is scary though, especially when kids photos are involved. Even if your page is private, you still run somewhat of a risk of having your photos accessed by people who you didn’t intend to see them. Fotobounce is a program that runs local to your computer instead of relying on a public website to store and share your photos. It’s completely free to download and use.
After downloading the program, you select a main folder where the program will scan for new photos to add into fotobounce. It will break the photos down into the year and month that your photos were added, as you can see in the partial screen capture.
Fotobounce has face recognition software, as you can see in the partial screen capture, it didn’t ever try to claim that two different people were one person, but several times it thought that the same person was two different people. However, Ryan & I have been dating for nearly 4 years, and we have both had many different hair styles which could be part of what confused the software.
You can share photos from fotobounce using facebook, twitter or something called bounce networks, which are completely private, and access can only be gained if you send an invite to someone. That way, if you choose not to upload photos to your blog, facebook etc, you can still share them with your friends/family members without compromising the safety of your photos.
Download it: You can download fotobounce for free online.
