Fairies are such a popular theme of choice for young girls right now. Lite Sprites are small fairies that come with a wand that changes their color depending on what color the wand is. To light the wand up in the color green, you simply place the end of the wand onto anything green and hold down a button. To turn it blue, you set it on blue and hold the button down. Once the wand is lit up in the color you want, you point it at a fairy (or other lite sprite accessory) to turn it the same color as the wand. These are an interesting toy simply because of the technology used, it’s unlike any other toy I’ve seen before.

We were sent a fairy with wand, a fairy with a windmill, an extra fairy and a set of lite pets. I thought these would interest my 8 year old sister, so I let her try them out. There was a bit of learning curve to figure out the wand games, but she got it figured out. I found that the wand and color changing abilities only held her attention for maybe 15 minutes and then she spent a few hours playing with the lite pets and using the windmill as a fort/tree house for the stories that she was acting out with the lite pets. The lite pets are really detailed, one of the bugs ate a bite out of a leaf that he’s holding, and another bug has a hat and scarf made of leaves. They are pretty cute, but I wish she would have gotten more play time out of the lite sprites themselves, as they are the main toy. I think if the fairies weren’t so large, and were perhaps poseable they’d be easier to use for pretend play, like she was using the lite pets for. I asked her if she thought her friends, girl cousins, etc would like to get lite sprites for their birthday or Christmas and she said she thought most girls would like them. Here’s a video web put together of my sister checking out lite sprites.

  • These are so cute! My neighbors daughter that I babysit for loves these! Definitely getting her some for Christmas!

What is the suggested age on these? I think my almost 5 yr old would like them but, I worry about small parts with my almost 3 yr old. I also worry that the almost 3 yr old would break them.

The box says they are recommended for ages 4+. They are pretty sturdy feeling, I think they’d be hard to break. If it were me I would feel comfortable letting a 3 y/o play with them as long as they aren’t still in the “everything goes in the mouth ” stage. The little sprite pets would be a choking hazard for toddlers but otherwise I think they’re safe. Could potentially be a good way to work on colors, matching, memory, etc with the games the wand does.

  • My kids loved these! They were a lot of fun!

  • Those are just darling! My daughter is starting to outgrow things like this, leaving me with no excuse to play with her things! 😉
