Part of the duties of running a blog is finding ways to promote your site. After all, if you don’t get the word out about your website, how will people find it? The decal gal offers a unique way to promote your business, blog or website. Many of you are probably familiar with wall decals that are really popular right nwo for decorating inside your home. The decal gal decals are vinyl decals just like wall decals, but they can be used on your vehicle to promote your website. I thought this was a neat idea and ordered a vehicle decal for our truck. If you aren’t familiar with etsy, it’s a really easy website to use. You simply log into your account, find an item you want to buy, and push ‘add to cart.” If you order an item that offers your choice of decal color, font, etc you’ll want to include your choices in the “message to seller” box. Then you select checkout with paypal. When you push the paypal button, it takes you to paypal and you log in and submit the payment. Once you’ve confirmed that you definitely want to order with a quick push of a button, you’re done. So all in all it takes maybe six or seven clicks? It’s very easy to check out and make your order.
I selected the website url vinyl decal that is approximately 23 inches wide and costs just $9.50. Our truck has the type of window that slides open in the center. I assumed that the 23 inch sticker would fit on one side of the window. Unfortunately when it came it was an inch or two too wide to fit on the window. This was completely my fault for not measuring our truck window. However, it was a pretty easy fix because I just cut the “www.” off of the decal so that it would fit. When people type emilyreviews.com into their browser, it still takes them to my website so it’s not a problem at all. One side of the sticker had a thick piece of backing paper, and the frontside had a very thin piece of paper. To apply the car decal I removed the thick backside paper, aligned the sticker on the window where I wanted it, and very carefully had Ryan squeegee the decal. I had ryan to help me, but if you need to apply a decal by yourself you could choose to use scotch tape to hold the decal in place while you squeegee it. The decal gal offers squeegees for just 1.89. It’s a really handy tool that allows you to smooth the sticker perfectly evenly without having the sticker bunch up or get “bubbles” from being uneven. Once you’ve thoroughly squeegeed the sticker onto the surface, you can begin to slowly peel the thin paper off of the sticker. Once it’s off, you’re done! You can view pictures below that include a photo of each step that I just outlined. If at some point down the road you want to take the decal off, you can use a hair dryer to heat up the decal for easy removal. The whole process from ordering to applying is very simple and at just $9.50 it’s a really affordable way to promote your website.
- Pealing the thick backing off
- Using the squeegee to make sure the decal is wrinkle free
The decal gal has other decals that allow you to promote your twitter, facebook or to make statements about your personality, your family, your hobbies, etc. Some of the other decals include military family decals, hunting decals, personalized pet car decals, and more.
