adult minky blanket

My blankie addiction started young, really young. I’m not sure how old I was when I deemed “my blankie” as my blankie but I would imagine I was a baby or young toddler. My blankie slept with me every night, and went with me everywhere. When I was sick, hurt or sad it was always there to help. Sadly, my blankie basically fell apart by the time I was eight or nine so although my mom still has it packed away somewhere, it’s in really rough shape with several holes. Minky is great for baby blankets because it’s really durable, it wont’ rip or tear nearly as easily as other fabrics. It’s also great for baby blankets because it’s nearly impossible to move your hand across minky without saying “ohh” or getting that super relaxed, comforted feeling. It’s no surprise that minky baby blankets have gotten really popular. Despite being an adult now, there’s still that blankie loving kid inside of me so I was thrilled to try out a throw sized minky blanket from minky chic. Minky Chic is a one woman, home based business that sells a variety of minky products. My favorite color combination is black white and red, so I fell in love with the black and white dynasty blanket at first site and asked to have it backed with their “red cuddle” fabric. When my minky throw blanket arrived it was wrapped in a gorgeous ribbon and looked perfect for gift giving.

Minky Chic Blanket

I know several women on my list who would love an adult sized minky blanket for christmas. Plus, since this arrived Ryan has been caught cuddling up with it a few times, so it could even be a great gift for men. Minky chic has a camo minky blanket that would be great for men or boys. Minky Chic Throw BlanketThe red side of my blanket is super soft and the backside has a slightly longer length to the fibers in the fabric so it’s even softer. I had the edges lined with black satin which feels incredible. The throw is 50 inches wide and 60 inches long, and is generously sized for cuddling up on the couch. I also have enjoyed using it as a regular blanket to sleep with. I’m 60″ tall, so when I lay with it just covering my shoulders it’s a bit longer than my feet so I can wrap my feet up to keep them warm and it’s perfect size for me. For taller women or men, minky chic offers larger blankets. Their mega sized minky throw is 60 inches wide and 72 inches long, and their extra long blanket is 60 inches wide and 84 inches long. I was used to sleeping with a tied fleece blanket and have found my minky blanket to be just as warm as my old one. Minky is undeniably a bit more pricy than other fabrics, but the softness, durability and quality is worth it, especially when you’re shoping at minky chic. I’ve seen blankets of the exact same size retail for $125.00 or more at other minky stores. At minky chic adult throw blankets are $95.00. If you spend $100.00 or more you get free shipping, and for being my reader you can use the code EMILY15 to save 25% on your order, making an adult throw blanket $71.25. In addition to adult minky blankets, minky chic also has baby minky blankets, toddler bedding, minky throw pillows, pet beds and more. Be sure to keep minky chic in mind this holiday season!

  • I’ve been wanting one for a while now! Great review!

Such a coincidence too! I’ve been looking at them, and if I were to get one, it would be the same as the one you chose, only in pink 😀

  • I love Minky blankets. I can’t afford an adult sized blanket so I actually bought myself a toddler sized blanket! Well, that was a few years ago. Now I use it for my baby! I’ll definitely have to think about splurging and buying myself a blanket…for Christmas!

  • Living in michigan what goes better this time of year but a blankie, some warm cognac & a Fire in the fireplace! I entered the contest on her facebook page. Hope I win. Cuz I have the cognac and the fire in the fireplace, LOL

  • Should I be drooling over this? I always thought that there were only minky blankets out there for babies, never expected a me-sized one! I’ll bet that it’s super-warm on top of being soft… I’m going to have to “accidentally” send a link to one to my husband. And maybe I’ll send the link to everyone – you can never have enough blankets when you live in Michigan!

P.S. I love the damask you choose for your blanket, too!

P.P.S. My oldest had a blankie. In fact, he still does. I cannot tell you how many times my husband or I accidentally left it somewhere or on the roof of the car, only to realize it was missing hours later. We always found “him”, though! My son’s blankie is a crocheted one that I bought at a Salvation Army for ten cents. As it fell apart, I just too the loose ends and tied them together.
