For the most part, Ryan and I are more alike than we are different. One way that we differ is in our pillow preferences. I prefer a thick pillow that holds my head well above the mattress, while he prefers a soft, fluffy cloud-like pillow. The downside to being a fluffy pillow lover, is they tend to go flat pretty easily, so we are often hunting for a new pillow for him.
We recently were sent an organic wool pillow from Savvy Rest, a Natural Mattress and bedding company. The pillow was intended for Ryan to try out, and it’s perfect for him. The pillow is roughly 7 inches thick while laying flat, but when you lay your head against it it smashes down like a big, fluffy cloud. We’ve had the pillow for a few weeks, so we can’t yet say how it will hold up long term but it’s been great so far. Because the pillow is wool, it’s suppose to be good at stabilizing your body temperature for people who “sleep hot”. Ryan isn’t a person who sleeps hot so he can’t really say one way or the other.
The stuffing itself, feels just like other pillows we have purchased, we can’t really tell a difference between the regular pillow stuffing and wool which is great for people who want a pillow similar to what they’ve always used, but in an organic option. I like how the pillow comes in a zipped case that can easily be taken off to wash. This way, you can use your own pillow case if you want to but it’s not really necessary at all.
*Update 10/15/2013. My boyfriend claimed this pillow at some point and still uses it but it is very thin and lopsided, now. The side that he keeps hear his shoulders is less than half an inch thick and then the material is all bunched up at the top.
