Like most Americans, we live in an area that has hard water. While hard water isn’t dangerous, it causes several inconveniences. For example, if we use our regular tap water to run our dishwasher, the dishes come out cloudy and spotted even if we use the most expensive brands of dishwasher detergent. Ryan & I have very dark hair, but blond headed people in our area will have their hair get discolored if they use their houses water to shower in. Our tap water doesn’t taste very good to drink, either. There can also be effects of hard water on plumbing.
If you’re like us (and roughly 85% of Americans) you have hard water also and would benefit from using a water softener. Whether you can go through Water Softener Youngstown or somewhere else, you’ll likely experience several benefits after you start using a water softener. For us, we don’t have to worry about our water damaging our light headed friends hair if they shower at our house. Our water tastes great, and our dishes come out of the dishwasher sparkling clean even when we use store brand dishwasher detergent. It doesn’t take much to maintain our softener, so I often forget that we have it. As soon as the water softener salt runs out, we immediately notice a taste difference in our tap water. While it’s frustrating, it’s a great reminder for us that we need to buy more softener salt, so we don’t mind.
Another benefit to having soft water is you won’t get as much build up or stains on your bathtub and sinks. For people with really hard water, they have to be really diligent about cleaning their tub and sinks or they will begin to get discolored and even do permanent damage to their tub or sink. Having soft water can also make your water heater work more efficiently which means more hot water for you, sooner. I cannot stand being cold, so I love anything that will help me be warmer. Taking cold showers are awful! Having soft water can even make your plumbing more efficient – hard water can cause deposits to build up inside of your pipes which eventually can lead to problems. Soft water lessens the likelihood that deposits will build up so your pipes stay in better shape.
