I always struggle to come up with ideas for what to get Ryan for gifts but this year was worse than most. Ryan’s main interest is in computers and other technology gadgets. However, he now has a desktop, laptop, Smartphone and E-Reader. The only missing gadget is a Tablet but his Smartphone can do just about everything that a tablet would and we want to wait until we can afford a really nice tablet before we purchase one because there seems to be significant quality differences in the cheaper ones vs the more expensive ones. I really had no clue what I was going to get Ryan for Christmas until the ability to work with Radio Shack popped up in my inbox.

I should have thought about Radio Shack before because when we had just started dating we went to a mall that had a Radio Shack and Ryan walked around looking at various items and talking about what items he hoped to someday buy and why he thought they would be useful. Yet, it never occurred to me to browse A Radio Shack store or Radio Shack website for ideas, which is so silly of me.

Radio Shack sells the Enercell® 700mAh Credit Card Size Power Bank that sells for $29.99. It holds energy that can be used to charge any device that uses a MicroUSB. To use it, you just make sure it’s charged before leaving the house. Then when your device that uses a MicroUSB runs out of power, you plug it into the Power Bank to recharge. That’s all there is to it.

The Enercell® 2400mAh Portable Power Bank goes for $49.99. It is incredibly similar to the 700mAh powerbank but it’s bigger (though it’s still small enough to fit in a purse, bag or briefcase.), can store more power and isn’t for MicroUSB’s but instead any and all USB compatible devices.

Between these two devices, we’ll be able to charge just about anything we need to while on the go. It’s important for Ryan to be reachable at all times because of his line of work, and The Enercell Power Banks enable us to do that even though our devices have limited battery. For our past cell phones, we’ve bought an additional battery so that we can charge both batteries prior to leaving the house so that we don’t risk having our phones die while on the go. Depending on the type of phone battery, these power banks can be cheaper than the cost of buying a second battery and they’re more convenient to use on the go because you don’t have to power your phone down.

Connect: You can connect with Radio Shack on Facebook and Twitter.

Buy it: You can purchase from radio shack in person at one of their 7,000+ stores or online.
