I am getting ready to take a cross-country trip with my family so today I want to share with you some Nutrisystem tips on how to make healthy choices while you travel.
Take your Nutrisystem meal planner, dining out guide and water bottle with you on your trip. They will help you be accountable for your actions and make educated decisions.
Along with your dining out guide, use the internet to research restaurants that will be around where you are staying. Often you can view menus on line; plan what you will order a head of time so temptation doesn’t get the best of you when you arrive hungry.
When everyone else is ordering unhealthy appetizers, you can order a salad. It will help you with your fresh add-ins and will curb your hunger pains.
While at a restaurant, remember you can ask for your food to be prepared how you want it. It’s OK; it’s not being rude or bossy.
Once your order arrives to the table, if your portions are too large, ask for a to-go box and package half of the serving immediately. This way you don’t run the risk of overeating and you have another meal ready for you. Another option is to share an entrée with a friend and order a dinner salad to go with it.
If you are staying at a place with a kitchen, consider bringing your Nutrisystem foods with you. They will be a convenient option and will help reduce any anxiety you may have about choosing foods on your own.
As soon as I arrive at my destination, I plan on finding a grocery store or local farmers market. I will purchase fresh fruits, veggies, and proteins to keep in our hotel mini fridge. This will help prevent me from choosing poor “snack” foods in between meals.
Be a tourist; walk around and view the sites on your trip. See if your hotel has a gym. If it doesn’t, you can see if there is a gym near you and ask for a free trial or guest membership. If you have some spare time on your schedule, see if there are any fun runs taking place and participate in those.
I am putting all of these tips to use myself.
This week’s measurements show a loss of .5 in my arms, 0 inch in my chest, 1.0 in my waist, .5 inch in my hips, and .5 inch in my thighs. A weekly total of 2.5 inches and an overall total of 36 inches! I also lost 2.6 pounds this week bringing my grand total to 40 pounds!!! I DID IT; I AM OFFICIALLY 2/3 TO MY GOAL WEIGHT!
Last week, I shared my green protein drink recipe. If you were courageous and tried it, I am sure you were pleasantly surprised with the taste. I am going to ask you to be brave with today’s protein drink recipe also; it is my play on carrot/spice cake. I started with water and ice in a blender (follow packet instructions). Then I added 10 diced baby carrots and blended well. Next I added the vanilla protein drink packet, a dash of cinnamon, and a dash of allspice. Give it one final thorough blend, serve, and enjoy! Counts As- 1 Power fuel and 1 vegetable.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

CONGRATULATIONS! I just ordered my first month and plan to start after I come back from my sisters March 22. I have 67 pounds to lose to be within my ideal weight for my age/height. Your blog is inspiring.

Congratulations! 40 pounds is amazing!
