We all know bamboo is a very versatile grass. You can find bamboo fabric, bamboo kitchenwear, bamboo furniture, bamboo jewelry, etc. I recently discovered a company called Ever Bamboo that offers a selection of bamboo charcoal products that purify/deodorize air and water, dehumidify, cleanse and nourish skin, and more. I didn’t know bamboo could do all these amazing things!

Why is charcoal bamboo is green, safe, and natural option? Because moso bamboo grows quickly (2 feet or more per day) and reaches maturity in 5 years making it a great sustainable resource. Because bamboo charcoal is entirely natural, it can be recycled into the ecosystem which means no harmful waste. Because bamboo charcoal can last about a year meaning you can reuse it multiple times.

    Moso bamboo has tiny holes all over it giving it its special abilities to deodorize and dehumidify. Not only does charcoal bamboo absorbs odors, moisture, and polluted air particles such as formaldehyde, ammonia, and benzene, it also softens water, absorbs harmful minerals including chlorine and releases its natural minerals (calcium, sodium, magnesium) into the water.

To take care of your bamboo charcoal products, all you have to do is place them outside under direct sunlight (2-3 hours per side) monthly or every other month for optimal performance. That’s about as easy as it gets, right?

For this review, I received 5 products to try out. A Room Deodorizer and Dehumidifier, a package of Shoe Deodorizers, a package of Mini Deodorizers and Dehumidifiers, a Spa Pack, an HEI Face and Body soap.

The Room Deodorizer and Dehumidifier is perfect bedrooms, bathrooms, pet areas, etc. So far, I used mine both in the bathroom where are dogs sleep and in the car. In the bathroom, it’s very efficient at absorbing pet odors. As a bonus, it also absorbs moisture after we shower. It does an equally good job in the car at absorbing odors. I especially like that Ever Bamboo products are unscented so there is no lingering perfumey scent which tends to give me headaches.

The Shoe Deodorizers are perfectly shaped to fit in shoes or boots. All you have to do is slip them in your shoes and they do the work. I really like them for my running shoes and will definitely be using them in my winter boots.

The Mini Deodorizers and Dehumidifiers are designed for gym bags, lockers, luggage, storage bins, diaper pails, and any other small space. There are 3 pouches in the package. I keep one in my daughter’s wet bag for her cloth diapers. I keep the other two in our fridge doors. Once again, the pouches are really effective are neutralizing odors. I especially like them in our wet bags! It’s definitely nice that there are 3 in the package because they are very versatile and you’ll find tons of uses for them.

The Spa Pack is designed to absorb chlorine and harmful minerals. To use it, you have to place the bamboo charcoal in the zippered pouch provided and place it in the water for 10-15 minutes. Then you remove the pack and your bath is ready for you to enjoy. It’s important to know that you shouldn’t add any other bath products when you use the Spa Pack except for epsom salts. Although I really like the idea of getting rid of chlorine and chemicals in my bath water, I like to immerse myself in really hot water so I don’t find I can wait 10-15 minutes to get in the bathtub because the water has already started to cool down. I leave the Spa Pack while the tubs fills up and while I get ready for my bath and remove it when I’m ready to get it. I figure getting rid of some chlorine and chemicals is already a step up!

The Bamboo Charcoal Face and Body Bar was the product I was most curious about. Can I really clean my skin with charcoal? Won’t it leave dusty black residue on my body? It turns out that charcoal powder can penetrate pores and exfoliate, moisturize, and detoxify skin. The bar has a negative ionic charge which stimulates blood flow. My skin, especially in my face, is quite sensitive and it’s difficult to find a soap that I can use daily without my skin getting extra oily or super dry. This soap has been wonderful to my skin so far. It leaves no residue and my skin is really soft and moisturizes. It has a delicate lavender scent that I  like.

Overall, I’m really happy to have discovered Ever Bamboo products. It’s nice to know that I can rely on 100% natural products to safely deodorize and dehumidify, purify water, and clean my skin!
