Problem solving is a skill that we all need. It helps us figure out how to work through the smallest challenges to the biggest hurdles we may face in life. If we can teach young kids how to problem solve, then perhaps our next generations will have brighter futures.
We all know that kids learn best through play. With that thought in mind, I am thrilled when I am able to find toys that are both fun and teaching tools. Teaching kids these important life skills is much easier if they are having fun during the lesson. I found a puzzle at PlaSmart called Hiccups. I thought would be a great tool to help teach problem solving.
PlaSmart specializes in toys and games that are both educational and easy to operate. They focus on motor and dexterity skills, balance, creativity, coordination, problem solving and entertainment. PlaSmart has received many awards for their products.
Hiccups is a hand-held puzzle. The object of Hiccups is to pass a small red ball to the colored cups in order. If you drop the ball or miss a cup, you must start over.
Hiccups is suggested for ages six and up. However, I really believe this would be fun for all ages. My 4.5 year old really enjoyed playing with this puzzle. The more she played with it, the better she got. My almost 7 year old, was easily frustrated with the puzzle in the beginning. She too kept trying and improved each time. I also found myself and my husband playing with the Hiccups puzzle. It’s very addicting; once you start you won’t want to stop until you finish.
Hiccups would make a great gift for your problem solver.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.
