I watch a few women on youtube who are currently pregnant or who have recently had babies. Some of them did “belly casts” near the end of their pregnancy. One of the women even had professional photos done with her newborn and the belly cast after he was born. It was really neat to see him fit inside the mold after being born and really visualize that he was really in there before birth as well. However, the molds are fairly large, not very “pretty” when they are just made out of plaster bandages, and quickly become a pain to store after those newborn photos are over. Nobody really wants to hang a piece of plaster on their wall, but it would be hard to come up with anywhere else to put it.
BelliVita is a neat way to make a belly cast that you don’t have to throw away once baby is born. When you order a BelliVita kit it will include medical grade plaster bandages that you get wet with warm water and apply over your belly (and torso if you wish) and let dry. Then the mold is used to shape your BelliVita. They offer blown glass or hand-painted porcelain options. You can choose to have your mold created as-is, or to “flute” the edges to create a wavy bowl. If you have a specific theme or idea in mind for your bowl, you can have it customized to your desires. Each BelliVita is individually priced because of the variations in designs. Your finished BelliVita bowl will be a unique work of art that you can use for newborn photos, hang on the wall or use as a bowl to hold fruit, display shells or dozens of other options.
Did you do a belly cast? Would you like to for future pregnancies?
