I received product from Groovy Lab in a Box for my review. All opinions are my own.

Recently my daughters have both started to show an interest in science. I think they like testing “cause and effects” and seeing what the different outcomes will be. It doesn’t stop there though.  Other questions I hear them ask are:  Why does it work? How does it work? Why did it do that? Will it do it again? What will it do if I try this? ….and the list goes on. We do our best to also encourage their questioning minds by pointing out the science behind day-to-day activities.

When I was asked to review Groovy Lab in a Box, I was thrilled. I knew that even though my daughters were a little younger that the suggested age of eight years old and older, they would enjoy the projects. I figured it would just mean that a parent might need to be more involved in the activity than they would be for an older child.

Groovy Lab in a Box is just that, a box with ‘groovy’ lab projects. Every item in the box, as well as the box itself, are needed to complete various experiments. Each project engages young scientists and builds their critical thinking skills.

Also included in the box is a Lab Notebook. This notebook ties into a project that can be found on the website. The Lab Notebook encourages young scientists to take notes, answer questions, brainstorm, make design plans, test the plans and redesign if needed. Isn’t that great?

For our review, we received a Groovy Lab in a Box called Here Comes The Sun. Each project involves the sun in one way or another. The first project we completed was the Sun Print Paper. Following the directions, we used items from the box to create a solar darkroom.

The girls chose a few items and used them to produce a fun print. I am not sure they completely understood the project but they enjoyed watching the Sun Print Paper develop their design. I think this is one we would like to repeat now that we understand it more.

I don’t want to give away the surprise but I will tell you that there are other equally fun and challenging projects in the box. If you have a young scientist, I suggest subscribing to Groovy Lab in a Box. It was fun for the whole family. Young scientists can purchase Groovy Lab in a Box through a monthly subscription or purchase a single month. Each month offers a different Groovy Lab in a Box theme.

You can learn more about Groovy Lab in a Box on their website. You may also connect with them on facebook, twitter and pinterest.
