It has been five years since I graduated high school. Several of the people who I graduated with have now gotten married, others already have toddlers or even preschoolers, while some are still in college. When I meet with my friends from high school, engagements and weddings come up quite a bit because we know so many people taking those steps right now. While it’s exciting to watch some of our friends get married, and it’s fun to help them celebrate their day, it can be expensive to be a bridesmaid. I’ve been in weddings where the dress alone was almost $200. In one wedding that I was in, we tried having a $100 bridesmaids dress budget but the only dresses we could find in that price range in bridal stores in our area were clearance dresses that only came in a couple of sizes or colors. We had bridesmaids of various body types, and we didn’t want to miss-match our dresses so we had to go with a more expensive dress. When you add-on jewelry, shoes, having a professional up-do done, and a wedding gift the expenses add up quickly for bridesmaids. In one wedding that I was in, the morning of the wedding we all went to the spa to get a manicure and pedicure, eyebrow wax, spray tan and to have our makeup professionally done. It made for an expensive morning, to say the least.
On August 14th the season finale of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo aired which included Anna’s wedding. Anna purchased her dress from Light In The Box for $212! The dress is $59.39, the shoes are $17.99, Earring & necklace set is $12.99, and the bracelets are $3.89. They even had this adorable nail polish that would match perfectly. The polish is a bit of a splurge at $12.15, but with with the dress and other accessories being so affordable, there is more room for a splurge. Plus, the bridesmaids could all share it to save a little money and having matching nails.
