*Peachtree Publishers sent books for inclusion in the Emily Reviews holiday gift guide. All opinions are my own.
A few days ago I mentioned how I had two Peachtree Publishers books to give my teenage niece for Christmas. I also picked out several Peachtree Publishers books for my younger nieces and nephews this Christmas.
Peachtree has board books that are great for babies and young toddlers. Kelsie (age 1.5) likes to read but is rough on the pages of traditional children’s books, so board books are perfect. For her I picked out three board books.
Can You Cuddle Like A Koala? is a fun introduction to various animals and their behaviors. Each page features a different animal and something they do (can you wink like an owl?). Kelsie already likes to mimick animals by pretending to be a puppy or meowing like a kitten. I don’t think it will be long before she tries to do the actions listed on each page as we read along.
Fabulous Fishes is a really colorful book discussing different types of fish. The pages show the fish habitats as well. Some of the images even caught Drew’s attention at age 4. He was curious if the fish pictured are real or not so it allowed us to discuss how there are tons of unique looking fish that exist that he’s never seen before.
The last board book that I selected was While You Were Sleeping. This is a cute book that discusses the behaviors of various animals at night. For Kelsie it’s a fun way to introduce and discuss animals, while for Drew it sparked his curiosity about which animals stay awake while he goes to bed. The illustrations are very eye catching even for adults.
I also picked out a few picture books for the older kids in my life.
Harriet’s Horrible Hair day is a cute story that any child can relate to. It’s about a little girl with unruly curly hair, so it’ll be particularly entertaining for girls with curly hair. My niece Ava dislikes having her hair brushed or put up, so I think it’s a great fit for her in particular. It’s a bright and silly book that is lighthearted and fun.
While there are tons of books about moms and their children, it’s harder to find books about daddy’s. Hey, Daddy! is a cute book about animal babies and their dads. It discusses real examples of how animal fathers provide and care for their young. I love how it is educational while also being a sweet reminder of how important dad’s are – for animals and humans alike.
What Do Parent’s Do? (When You’re Not Home) is a fun book that will spark the imagination of kids. Most little kids don’t naturally think about others enough to consider what their parents do while they are not around. What Do Parent’s Do? will bring up this question while answering it in silly ways (such as they eat junk food and play video games). I know my nephews will find this book funny.
If you’re looking for children’s books for Christmas gifts, check out what Peachtree has to offer. They have board books for babies, picture books for kids as well as books for middle readers and young adults – something for everyone!
